Frequently Asked Questions
What is Belong Journal?
A voice-first journaling app with an AI that actually remembers you. Walk and talk; it reflects back patterns, insights, things you might not notice on your own. Built for people who need a place to put the things they can't say out loud anywhere else.
How is my data protected?
Every recording and entry is encrypted in transit and at rest in our Supabase database. Every table has row-level security — your account can only read and write its own data. We're not end-to-end encrypted, meaning we can technically see the contents if we had to. We'd never share your data for marketing or training, and we'll tell you loud and clear if that ever changed.
What happens to my recordings?
Voice recordings live in a private Supabase storage bucket tied to your account. We transcribe them on-device first, then upload the audio and transcript together. You can play them back anytime from the Reports tab. Deleting your account wipes everything — audio, transcripts, profile, memories — with one tap.
Can I export my data?
Self-serve export is on the roadmap. In the meantime, if you want a copy of everything you've journaled, email matthewericesposito@gmail.com and I'll pull it directly from the database for you, usually within a day.
What does the AI do with my entries?
Four things:
- Daily reflections. A short, written (and optionally spoken) reflection each morning in the tone you chose (supportive, balanced, direct, or ruthless).
- Your living profile. The 7-Day Challenge builds an initial profile — your values, the people in your life, the season you're in. It keeps evolving as you journal.
- Memory. Facts about you get extracted and stored so future reflections and chats have context. You don't have to repeat yourself.
- Chat. You can talk to Belong about any of your entries, your week, your patterns. It remembers.
All of this runs on leading AI models, carefully prompted for each task. We never train any AI on your data.
Why voice-first?
Typing makes you careful. Talking lets you wander. The best journaling — the kind that surprises you — happens when you stop curating and just say what you're thinking. Belong is built around that.
How does the 7-Day Challenge work?
Day 1 through 7, you answer one prompt per day. Each one is designed to help the app learn who you are — your roles, what matters, what you're working toward, where you're stuck. Takes about 5–10 minutes per day. By Day 7 you have a personalized Belong Profile that makes every reflection and every chat meaningfully smarter.
You can skip it if you want, but almost everyone who finishes says it's the thing that made the difference.
What does it cost?
Free to start — the free tier includes unlimited voice journal entries, 3 AI reflections each month, and 10 reflection chat replies per day.
Pro unlocks:
- Unlimited daily reflections
- Audio playback of reflections
- Weekly, monthly, and yearly reports
- Insights (patterns, mood tracking, themes)
Pricing: The pricing page and App Store checkout show the current monthly and annual options before you subscribe.
How do I give feedback?
Email me at hello@belongjournal.ai — you can attach a screenshot. You also have an in-app Send Feedback option under More.
I read every piece of feedback that comes in. Your feedback literally shapes what the app becomes for everyone who comes after you.
How do I delete my account?
More → Data → Delete Account. One tap and a confirmation. Everything goes — your auth record, journal entries, audio files, reflections, memories, profile, chat history. No lingering data. You can sign back up with the same email any time.
What if something isn't working?
If the app crashes, hangs, or something just feels wrong, email me at hello@belongjournal.ai with a quick description (a screenshot helps). I usually respond within a day.
Is Belong a solo operation?
For now, yes. I'm building Belong solo and carefully. When it's ready for more people, I'll grow the team — but right now, every design decision, every bit of copy, every feature goes through me. Which means your feedback lands in one inbox, and changes ship fast.
