Your recordings and entries

Your saved audio and journal entries live in private storage tied to your account. Belong encrypts data in transit and at rest and uses account access rules to keep one member from opening another member's journal. Belong is not end-to-end encrypted; authorized services must be able to process content for the features you choose.

Transcription and AI

Some recordings can be transcribed on your iPhone. Belong also uses server transcription, including when local transcription is unavailable or unsuitable. With your AI consent, relevant entry text and context can be sent to AI providers to make reflections, answer journal-history questions, and create narration. Provider routes and retention details are in the Privacy Policy and subprocessor list.

What we do not do

We do not sell your journal, use it for advertising, or opt it into training our own AI models. External providers have their own commercial data terms and retention periods, which we disclose in the policy. We do not promise that processing is entirely on device or that provider copies disappear immediately.

Your choices

You can manage AI consent, review or change what Belong remembers, export your journal, and delete your account from the app. A deleted memory does not rewrite an earlier reflection. The account-deletion process covers journal content in active systems, but removal failures or an upload still in progress can require follow-up. Usage and error logs can remain after the account link is cleared; removing that link does not guarantee anonymity. Backups and provider copies have separate retention rules in the policy.
